Piedmont Earth Day Fair

The 7th annual Piedmont Earth Day Fair will be held April 28, 2012 at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds from 10 am – 5 pm. Founded by PEA, the Piedmont Earth Day Fair is the Triad's largest Earth Day event, drawing crowds of 8,000+. Feedback from both exhibitors and visitors continues to be extremely positive. The Fair attracts huge crowds because it is a free, family-friendly event with lots to offer, including live music all day on a main stage, a variety of all- natural food options, hands- on demonstrations and children's activities. In addition, the Fair features over 100 exhibitors demonstrating the sustainable features of their products or services, highlighting local initiatives to protect our environment, and sharing their passion for sustainable solutions to modern day living.

BBQ Capital Cook-Off

BBQ Capital Cook-Off
Friday 5pm-9pm and Saturday 10am-5pm, Historic Uptown Lexington. If you love great barbecue, wine, and music, you’ll want to be in Lexington for the area’s first BBQ Cook-Off. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the event is bringing competitive chefs and judges from across the United States. Barbecue vendors will enable you to taste a wide variety of types of barbecue. Other activities include a visit from the Johnsonville Brats Big Taste Grill, the Inaugural Southern Gateway Wine Festival, a classic motorcycle show, kids activities and much more! Richard Childress Racing Museum

For NASCAR racing fans, a trip to the RCR campus in Welcome is a highlight of their trip to Davidson County!

The RCR Museum covers over 47,000 square feet! In it you’ll find the original No. 3 race shop, built in 1986, and the original RCR Museum which was built in 1991. The museum displays over 50 racing vehicles - including 28 examples of the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolets driven by Dale Earnhardt, 16 video screens that showcase key victories in RCR history, and displays of racing memorabilia, photographs, banners and trophies.

The museum and near by race shop offer daily tours.
